WHO Country Office in Türkiye Contributed to TAÇESE Sessions at the 11th Turkish Medical World Congress
During the first of four sessions organized by the Türkiye Maternity, Child and Adolescent Health Institute (TAÇESE) on November 24, 2025, as part of the 11th Turkish Medical World Congress, the topic “Effects of Climate Change on Children’s and Women’s Health” was addressed. The session evaluated, within a multidimensional framework, the health risks posed by climate change, particularly to vulnerable groups.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tufan Nayır, representing the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Türkiye, delivered a presentation entitled “A Global Perspective on Climate Change,” providing a comprehensive assessment of the effects of the climate crisis on healthcare systems and public health worldwide. The presentation addressed the implications of increasing environmental risks for maternal and child health, as well as preventive and adaptation strategies for managing these risks.
Led by TAÇESE, these sessions identified critical risk areas threatening the future of maternal, child, and adolescent health in Türkiye in light of scientific evidence, field experience, and international good practices, thereby establishing a strong and sustainable foundation for policymaking processes.
