Workshop on RSV Report Cover
The Türkiye Maternity, Child and Adolescent Health Institute held the hybrid “Workshop on RSV Report Cover” on February 4, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to assess the current situation regarding Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), which can cause severe lower respiratory tract infections among at-risk individuals, particularly infants and young children; address challenges encountered in service delivery; and develop proposed solutions.
The workshop constituted a continuation of the scientific assessment process addressing recent developments in the epidemiology, clinical management, and prevention strategies of RSV infections in Türkiye. It aimed to ensure that data obtained from field practices are reflected in improvements to healthcare services, preventive health policies, and research and development processes.
The workshop was held with the participation of relevant units of the General Directorate of Health Services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye; university academics specializing in pediatric infectious diseases, pediatric pulmonology, and neonatology; Sanofi; and the TÜSEB–TAÇESE team.
The meeting addressed, from a multidimensional perspective, the challenges encountered in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of RSV infections. Participants emphasized the need to strengthen early diagnostic capacity, increase awareness initiatives for at-risk groups, manage intensive care capacity in a planned manner during seasonal surges, and regularly monitor, record, analyze, and report relevant data.
The expansion of preventive health services and enhancement of public awareness were also recommended.
In light of these assessments, participants agreed on the importance of contributing to national initiatives concerning RSV infections and monitoring the relevant processes.
